Summary:
We are introduced to a young girl whose mother works at a diner. She talks of a jar where all the family’s coins go to. We later learn that their house and most of their belongings burned in a fire, therefore they save to buy their furniture. The little girl also speaks of the support her neighbors and family members provided throughout those hardships. The goal is to purchase a velvet sofa that all three: her mother, her grandma, and herself will be using. Once this becomes a reality. The character talks about the ways in which they all enjoy it.
This book is an excellent resource to describe the bond between mother and daughter. The radiant illustrations captivate the essence of the theme of the story. Williams includes descriptive words that help the reader visualize the optimistic view of the daughter. This book is an excellent resource that can be used to introduce the joyful spirit of a loving family.
