Cronin, D., & Lewin, B. (2000). Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type (Reprint ed.). Atheneum
Books for Young Readers.
Summary:
An angry farmer Brown finds a note from his cows demanding electric blankets for the cold nights at the barn. He denies the petition and writes his own response. The cows reply again, and the notes are being delivered by a duck who is nonpartial. Eventually the dispute grew between the two parties and some of the farm animals went on strike. The farmer decides to give blankets for all the animals in exchange for the typewriter. The ducks kept the typewriter and actually wrote their own wish: a diving board.
Cronin and Lewis did a fantastic job with this humorous and unconventional story. The cartoons truly depict the farmer’s mannerisms to capture exasperation. The watercolor scheme was uniformed throughout the vivid illustrations. This book offers several topics that world wide audiences can relate to. It is an excellent tool to expose children to the ideal that people can calmly and politely stand up for their rights.
