Carmen Lomas Garza incorporated a variety of materials in her paintings such as oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas, and gouache on arches paper. The paper cut-out images on the text pages were cut from black paper with exacto knives. This book is a great resource for ELL students as it exposes vocabulary in Spanish for cultural authenticity.
