Morris, J. E. (2019). Flubby Is Not a Good Pet! (Illustrated ed.). Penguin Workshop.
Summary:
Flubby, Kami’s cat, is not a typical pet. He does not do things such as sing, jump, and play catch like other pets do. Kami is constantly comparing her cat to her friends’ pets. Eventually she realizes that even though Flubby is not a good pet, he needs her as much as she needs him.
Morris incorporated simple illustrations with soft color schemes that complements the narrative of this lovely story. The narrative contains short, repetitive sentences that are designed to help emergent readers. This book offers several topics that world wide audiences can relate to including the fact that the main character is a cat and real cats usually do not follow ower’s commands. Readers are delighted by the characters’ expressions.
