Infographics

In this module, I was required to explore and expand my horizons into the world of infographics. An infographic is a tool that can be used to teach or inform using data-rich visuals to facilitate the presentation and understanding of facts. There are different cites that offer the ability to customize your infographic using a variety of features. I evaluated the following three sites easel.ly, Piktochart, and Infogram. Here are my findings!

Easel.ly

This site offers the ability to create your infographic starting from scratch or to choose between the free available templates. The free version of this site has an ample collection of premade templates that are ready to be used. The premium version has another 512 templates. I decided to create one just to play with its tools, and I feel confident to say that it is user friendly and easy to navigate. You can customize your infographic to add graphics, text, graphs, and videos. Some of the tools require require access to the premium version. The price for the premium version varies on the type of account. The student premium version is available for $2, premium access for teachers is $4, and business for $5.

Picktochart

This site was extremely easy to navigate and user friendly. In my personal opinion is visually appealing and great features to offer. Just like Easelly, it offers many premade templates to choose from or the freedom to start in a blank template. Additionally to infographics, this site offers you the ability to create presentations, posters, reports, and flyers. It offers tools that free of charge that include text, charts, maps, tables, and videos. The premium version can be purchased for $24 a month. This was my favorite site.

Infogram

This site offers a great variety of projects to choose from. It also offers premade templates, however, the design seems to be quite simple. Some of its features include charts, graphs, maps, timelines, flow charts, diagrams, pictures, videos, icons, and simple shapes. You can add team members to facilitate collaboration. Infogram offers different types of upgrades for different prices. The pro version is available for $19 a month.

The second part of of this assignment, required for me to find an article and use one of the sites to create an infographic to present the information. The article that I decided to use is titled "7 Facts about Americans and Instagram" and after further exploration, I selected Piktochart to create my own infographic. I had a lot of fun playing with this resource. I would definitely incorporate it to my library lessons. Here is my Infographic created using Piktochart:
