Mora, O. (2018). Thank You, Omu! (Illustrated ed.). Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.
Summary:
This story is about a generous grandmother named Omu who enjoys cooking and sharing her meals. One day, several of her neighbors followed the delectable aroma of her stew. As she shared her dish with others, she realized that her pot was empty and she forgot to serve herself a plate. In gratitude, her friends decided to organize a feast in her honor where everyone enjoyed eating, dancing, and celebrating.
Mora’s clever and beautiful story incorporated the use of pastel-patterned papers and book clippings to add to the paintings and captivate the essence of the grandmother’s perspective about sharing. This book could be used to expose young worldwide audiences about the concepts of sharing and community.
