This book entails the story of a ten-year-old girl named Bea and her life changing experiences after her parents divorce. She decided to make a list of things that will not change in her life. She understands that even if her parents are not together, she will always have their unconditional love and support. Bea changes in many ways throughout the story, but likes to reflect back on the list that she keeps in her green notebook. Her dad comes out as gay and decides to marry his boyfriend, allowing Bea to have a step-sister.

This book successfully captures several themes presented from a child’s perspective. Throughout her warm and vivid writing, Stead is able to portray the essence of each character and how their relationships evolve throughout the story. This narrative present real world events that are relatable to children that might be experiencing changes in school life, family changes, remarrying, gay parents, and complicated relationship with siblings. The story unfolds in a very organized way that allows the reader to understand the depth and complexity of the events. The cover of the book is aesthetically pleasant. This cover was successfully designed with warm colors and an excellent choice of font that invites the reader to open the book and dive into a wonderful story that celebrates love, growth, and life.
